I came to Mike when I was trying to revamp my exercise routine. His movement-based style is ideal for creating functional strength. He motivates you to do things you think you'd never be able to do. And he makes training fun. - Dr. Kim ClaIr, MD

Michael's approach to fitness is completely refreshing. We'll often hear him say, "Don't follow me, walk beside me. We'll progress together.". His humble approach to instruction allows him to not only teach his students, but to learn from them too. Through his expertise and skill in movement and calisthenics, he strives to make students stronger not only in the gym, but in their lives outside of the gym. I completely dig training with him and hope to continue to do so for a long time to come. - Bryan McGurn

Michael, Thank you for being such an inspiration every day. I have been fighting some serious health issues, and trying to shake the 100 lbs I knocked off 10 years ago, and that came back after I broke both of my feet, and quit smoking. Your inspiration is so positive, and propels people forward without penalty of negativity. You have no idea how much you have helped me already, from 2750 miles away. I just wanted to say Thank You, and I am happy to know you. ~Leslie Benton

Rare find!
As a first time student of Michael's, last night's class was remarkable.
His passion and artistry is refreshing. Michael is a gifted personal trainer and teacher of fitness & movement. The personal attention I received was just the right amount for me and I enjoyed every minute. Can't wait till next week's class.
Michael's emphasis on a wide variety of movements were strengthening as well as stretching to the muscular skeletal system.
Lastly, in the realm of health and fitness, Michael is a genuine master and rare find.

"I was looking to build my upper body strength without the use of weights and Michael Polito helped me gain upper body strength using groundwork and bodyweight movements. He was able to breakdown the exercises so that no matter what level of upper body strength i had it was modified to my level. And with consistent practice I have been able to make significant advances. If you are interested in a different approach to your training or would like to try movement or bodyweight training I recommend Michael Polito. C. Gomez" - Yoga Instructor

I've never used calisthenics as a form of exercise and so I was a bit hesitant and insecure in my own physical strength. Michael was very patient, knowledgeable, and thorough in his demonstration of each exercise. Michael explained proper form, which muscle group was targeted and how training with one’s own body weight was a more beneficial form of exercise. I highly recommend Michael as a personal fitness trainer.     Dawna C.

I have never worked with a personal trainer before starting with Mike, and I don’t look forward to the day that I have to work with someone else. Mike meets you where you are in terms of fitness and listens to where you want to be: strength, flexibility, diet, bulking up—he offers the whole package. And he listens. He’s continuously supportive and upbeat, and he has helped me to see that a “workout” depends on where you are and the amount of time you have available. Every session with Mike opens new doors, and he always shares the progress he is trying to make. I am sitting on a train to the city right now, and I can turn that into a strengthening or flexibility exercise, but everyone around me thinks I’m just typing on my laptop.

I joined East Wave Dojo a little over a year ago and really enjoy learning from Sensei Mike. He is extremely knowledgeable and keep the classes interesting by mixing up what we do in every class. Each class consist of warm up, basic drills (punches/kicks), floor exercises, kata (forms), and some type of bag training or sparring. Challenging but definitely suitable for all levels.

Awesome! Great instructors, and Students of all levels and ages… People felt welcome to observe and were able to ask questions and get professional answers… All around, a wonderful close-knit feel, as the classes are smallish so you get some great one on one time and advice from the Sensei…highly recommend! Very low cost, very relaxed environment, you won’t have peoples egos ending up getting yourself injured lol… A lot of Fun, and Great Excercise! I’ve never been in better shape and from the forms and stretches, I’ve gained a lot of mobility back! Has helped with my pains as well… almost too good to be true ;)

I have been studying with Sensei Polito for a little over a year. He is a ver knowledgeable, patient and caring teacher who encourages all students to learn at their own pace. I came to karate late in life (I am over 50) and the pace is challenging but I’m always encouraged to push just a little bit more and it is quite satisfying. I highly recommend checking out the Japanese Swordsmanship class on Mondays as well.
